The Day after the night before...
Trump
Triumphs
Kuda thought that Hillary Clinton was
about to win the election because Trump made too many racist or
disrespectful comments / remarks to be elected president.
Tchoupi thought / believed there would be
/ there would have been a terrorist attack if Trump was elected.
Mr T expected Clinton to win simply
because all the polls predicted she would win.
In fact / Actually Trump won the
election, and it wasn't even close. He won the electoral vote by a landslide
/ by a large majority.
The Republicans didn't just win the
Presidency. They won the Senate and the House of Representatives too, which
means that Trump has the Congress on his side.
Trump probably won thanks to his
charisma, and because he captured the imagination of the disappointed
blue-collar workers, who are often poor and who were angry against the
Washington establishment. Trump embodied / symbolized 'change' because he was
different, he was an 'outsider'.
Hillary might have lost because she
represented Washington and the 'status quo' and this handicapped / undermined
her candidacy. Besides, the email scandal had a dramatic impact on the
voters : citizens thought they couldn't trust her, because she was
suspicious / disingenuous / untrustworthy / shady / dodgy. The fact that she
was a woman might also have played against her...

Trump's
Unexpected Victory
Mr Questroy thought Hillary was going to
win because every single poll predicted her victory.
Batgirl believed / thought that she
couldn't lose because Trump looks like an idiot / fool and because of the way
he talked / answered during the presidential debates.
Actually / In fact / Surprisingly /
Unbelievably Donald Trump won the election / he defeated Hillary Clinton.
Moreover / Furthermore, the Republican didn't just win the White House / the
Presidency, they also won the House of Representatives and the Senate, so DT
now controls Congress !
Trump's promises seduced / captured
the imagination of American people. Trump also embodied / represented /
symbolized strength or power. He was the voice of traditional values. He also
had tremendous / great / impressive charisma. He was the « voice of the
people ». He represented 'change' because a Washington insider, he was an
'outsider' who promised / pledged to help the victims of globalization,
blue-collar workers.
ON the other hand, Hillary Clinton is a
woman, which may / might pose a problem for some people.
She showed repeatedly that she was not a
trustworthy / reliable person because she lied about her emails.
Besides / What's more, she has been in
Washington for more than 30 years / since the 70s, so she doesn't represent
'change', she represented the 'status quo' and that's not exciting.
Furthermore, she had an 'image' problem : she looked cold and unfriendly /
suspicious.
