Disunited Kingdom : The Debates

  1. The EU might not be dead because the fact that the UK is leaving is a 'blow', it hurts the European United, but the E.U. Will survive.
  1. Benjamin believes Europe shouldn't be tough with the UK, because they have a right to leave, it's in the EU constitution. The risk is that other countries could be tempted to leave (Marion called it the « Domino Effect ») but Benjamin thinks we should just respect their decision.
  1. Maxime doesn't think Brexit will mean more security for the UK, because it is hard to control the borders and Maxime believes that migrants will come to Britain anyway / no matter what.
  1. IN Theo Grember's opinion, we shouldn't get rid of the EU because it helps trade / commerce and the flow of people. Besides / What's more, Theo believes it helps Eastern European countries develop.
  1. TO Maximilien's mind, Scotland should have the right to decide / make their own decision and he thinks if they want to, they should do it.
Rappel : le Passé, c'est soit :
# Verbe+Ed si régulier
# 2e colonne des verbes irréguliers comme le dit Theo

Donner un conseil / recommandation : SHOULD

Exprimer une probabilité
might < may < could < must
Ex : Tanguy MIGHT revise his irregular verbs this weekend, but it's not sure at all.

Contraction : Le Royaume est Désuni

The United Kingdom as a whole voted to leave the E.U., but Scotland and Northern Ireland didn't do so.
Could this lead to their independence and the end of the United Kingdom ?
The Scottish First Minister wants a new referendum on Scottish Independence.
The Irish Nationalist party also called for a referendum on the reunification of Ireland.
This reunification would not be so easy, due to the religious tension between protestants and catholics. Catholics might be in favour of a united Ireland, protestants not so much.
Could David Cameron also be responsible for the disunion of the Kingdom ?
